Some ewes after giving birth show low or no interest in their lambs. These ewes and their lamb(s) should be moved to a lambing box for 24-48 hours post lambing. Given that sheep are pray animals, the presence of a carnivore will alert the ewes and the instinct of bonding and protecting their offspring should set in. For this, the farmer could use a medium sized, unfamiliar and non-aggressive dog, which to be kept in the lambing shed, near the lambing boxes where the ewes with low mother instincts and their lambs are housed.
