Detection of mounts during the mating period is crucial for sheep farmers to plan lambings. The traditional marking of ram’s chest implies the visual detection of “true” and “false” mounts (see “T&T ram’s chest crayon marking”). Michelino uses to mark the ram’s foreskin with a crayon to increase the precision of detection of “true” mounts. On the other hand, the crayon mark have to be refreshed frequently.
