Detection of mounts during the mating period is crucial for sheep farmers to plan lambings. The traditional method used by Sardinian farmers consists of marking the chest of rams with a crayon. In this way the ram when mounts the ewe marks the rump of the ewe. So, the farmer is able to identify the mounted ewes through visual detection. Usually, to easily record the exact date of the mount, the farmer applies a thin rope on the neck of the mounted ewe to avoid the recording of ewes already mounted.
