Lambs must learn to drink before weaning in order to mitigate stress associated and to develop properly. The utilization of a barrier to limit temporarily the access of the lambs to their mothers, forces them to learn to drink and to eat solid feedstuff. This barrier also facilitates the passage of sheep to the milking parlour at least once a day to maintain the udder in the best hygienic and physiological conditions.
