When driving the ewe and its litter to an individual pen just after lambing, the farmer marks the lamb(s) and the ewe on their back with a color pen and treat the lamb umbilical cord with iodine tincture. Given that lambings take place in different pens all over the sheepfold, the farmer has bought a toolbelt belt, so that the marker pen and the iodine tincture bottle are always within easy reach.
